Grade 6-12 Social Studies Materials Feedback Needed

Social Studies materials for grades 6–12 have been reviewed as part of the district’s regular cycle. While standards and curriculum remain the same, updated resources are needed. Discovery Education and Imagine Learning Traverse have been selected as finalists for new digital, teacher-facing materials that can also be printed for student use.

Parent and community input is now being requested. Please review the options and complete the survey by April 20, 2026. Assistance and in-person viewing are available at the District Office or by appointment.

In alignment with the Mat-Su Borough School District’s established review cycle, Social Studies materials and programs have been reviewed this year by the Social Studies Materials Adoption Team for grades 6-12.  Although the district-adopted standards and curriculum are not changing, it was determined that updated resources for teachers and students are necessary. We're excited to announce that Discovery Education and Imagine Learning Traverse have been selected as finalists for our secondary social studies curriculum and materials adoption. While the teams considered both print and digital resources, printed textbooks were not financially viable. The top two digital resources are teacher-facing; they do not require students to be online, as both allow content to be printed if needed. The process has now reached the stage where parent and community feedback is essential. We invite you to review the options and complete the survey to share your input by April 20, 2026.

Please click HERE to access a side-by-side information document about both programs and take the feedback survey.

If you need assistance with accessing the materials or would like to set an appointment to help with online access, please email Sarah Notestine at sarah.notestine@matsuk12.us. Walk-in help with online materials viewing is available at the District Office from April 3, 2026, to April 20, 2026, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday or by appointment.
